Today, lets take a look at some of the authorization objects in SAP Business Warehouse from a point of administration. You may also want to read my post on the basics of BW authorizations as well as the auth_objects important for BW reporting before reading this. Normally, the BW administrators set up infocubes, load data from the source systems, update the query rules and manage infosources. BW administration has a different set of authorization objects which control administration security. These are discussed below:
1. S_RS_ADMWB - This auth object is used in transaction RSA1 and deals with protecting infobjects, infosources. This object is important since it controls transaction data at the administrator workbench.
2. S_RS_IOBJ - S_RS_IOBJ is used to restrict access only to specific infobjects. Instead of giving an administrator S_RS_ADMWB which provides access to all infobjects, IOBJ authorization object just provides access to a specific infobject.
3. S_RS_ISOUR - The S_RS_ISOUR deals with protecting access to the source systems from which data can be extracted. Transfer rules and access to the source systems are protected using this authorization object.
4. S_RS_ISRCM - This object is again used to protect access to the source systems. Once can restrict direct handling of infosources with direct updating using S_RS_ISRCM.
