SAP Central System Monitoring for System Administrators

SAP provides system administrators many functionalities to monitor
the SAP system
. Components within the BASIS systems can be monitored on their own. Almost all of the SAP BASIS components have standard monitoring transactions. SAP also provides central system monitoring. This can be very helpful in a complex scenarios. System monitoring could include availability, response times etc.

The CCMS alert onitoring can be used as a central monitoring environment for SAP BASIS or SAP WebAS. Components in the system landscape which do not have SAP Basis are connected using the CCMS agents. Monitoring data is collected and stored locally. In technical terms, this is referred to as monitoring segment. Once data is collected, various views of the data can be generated. 'CEN' is used to denote central monitoring system. A central view of the entire system landscape is thus possible. Errors which are shown can be corrected directly using CEN. One can go directly to the component which needs to be corrected using detailed analysis.
