The Reporting Agent in SAP BW allows the execution of BW queries in
batch mode. In SAP BW reporting, not all OLAP functions are online.
As a result, there is an increasing need for functions to be executed in batches. Batch mode in BW reporting is used to print reports, automatically identify execptions, enable users to take action. SAP BW reporting also enables users to view results in the form of a web template or calculate value sets for use in value set variables.
Configuring the SAP BW Reporting Agent:
The SAP BW Reporting agent can be configured in the following two steps. First step is to configure the agent settings for exception reporting, batch reporting, web templates etc. The second step is creation of a scheduling package which is a reporting agent scheduler and is part of the job scheduling function. The configuration functionality is available in the Administration Workbench in SAP. Reporting agent can alternatively be configured through the transaction T-code RSRAJ.
