How to Change Passwords for Standard Users in SAP R3

Some of you may remember my post on Deactivating the SAP* User ID. From a SAP security perspective, it is also important to change passwords for standard users in SAP. Such standard users not only include user ids such as SAP*, DDIC, SAPCPIC, EARLYWATCH etc, but for all common SAP users also. The default passwords for all these user IDs are in table T000. So how exactly does one change the default password for standard users in SAP. Below are the steps for the Same.

1. Logon as a superuser in the current SAP environment.
2. The go to the menu path Tools >> Administration >> Maintain Users >> Users
3. Enter the user id for which you want to change the password, say 'DDIC' in the user field.
4. Now choose the change password option on the screen.
5. Enter the new password. You need to repeat this process for all user ids for which you want the password changed.
