SAP requires proactive system administration. Periodic system monitoring is very essential in a system like SAP to ensure that all system components are working fine. From a point of view of the SAP system administrator, there are certain T-codes in R3 which should be checked periodically and can be helpful in proactive SAP management. Below, I am making a listing of T-codes which are helpful in SAP system management at the operating system and network level.
1. SM51 SAP Servers - This transaction code displays all the SAP application servers available.
2. SM50 Process Overview - This t-code displays status of the processes i.e. continous daily monitoring tasks.
3. AL16 OS Alert Monitor - This one displays any operating system alerts which require correction.
4. OS03 Operating system OS Parameter Changes - This SAP transaction checks if there have been any changes in the system kernel.
5. ST09 / ST08 Netwrok Alert Monitor - This transaction helps in analyzing and detecting network level problems.
6. RZ02 System Monitor - This checks whether all SAP systems are running on their scheduled operating mode.
7. SMGW Gateway Monitor - Checks the gateway connection status
