Today, I am doing a small article on periodic repostings in the CO module in SAP. In SAP R3 CO controlling module, periodic repostings are used as an aid to thposting process. As a rule, once the posting process is complete, SAP FICO admin can run the reposting program. In SAP, as far as possible primary postings of costs are done using the allocation object. The main purpose of allocating costs using allocation object is to restrict the number of postings from SAP FI. Once all the costs are accumulated, these are then allocated at the period end closing time. The allocation happens based on a key defined by the user which is the controlling object.
Line items within the entire process of repostings can be posted to a sender or receiver cost center. As such there is no limit on the number of periodic repostings that can be generated. Periodic repostings can be generated as many number of times as required and can be reversed in case required.
