Master Data Maintenance in SAP R3

When using SAP R3, it is important to maintain master data such as customer accounts, vendor accounts accurately. SAP MM and SAP SD contain data relating to vendors and customers respectively. As a best practice in master data maintenance, customer and vendor master records should be maintained centrally. This ensures that all master records are correct. In SAP R3, sometimes, the materials management MM module and the sales and distribution SD module create their own segments of master records and SAP FI creates its own master records.

In the above mentioned case, there is a risk that duplicate master records may be created. How does one find out there incomplete or duplicate master records in SAP R3. There are two seperate reports available in SAP R3 to view duplicate records.

1. Report RFDKAG00 can be used for Customer Master Data Comparison.
2. Report RFKKAG00 can be used for Vendor Master Data Comparison.

Using these reports one can find duplicate master records in SAP R3. Such duplication can also be prevented by using the matchcode before creating an account or by switching on automatic duplication check in SAP R3.
