SAP System Administration Basic Concepts

The key to a well performing highly available system is focus on system administration. SAP system administration requires proactive maintenance and management by exception of the SAP system. SAP system administration is most of the times performed by SAP Basis administrators in the IT department of a company. The CCMS in SAP represents an ideal starting point for SAP system administration. The Computing Center Management System CCMS is an inbuilt monitoring tool in SAP for controlling, configuring and managing the SAP system. In short, it is a good tool for system administration.

SAP system administration is a critical to the success of the SAP implementation project. As such, SAP system administration should be considered throughout the SAP implementation process. Securing the SAP R/3 system requires chalking out a SAP security plan and allocating adequate manpower for the same. Identiyfing configuration points which can help in securing the SAP system should happen before, during and after the SAP implementation process.
