SAP R/3 provides management the flexibility to restrict amounts that
can be posted by users. Similarly, tolerance limtis can be set for
discounts and payment differences. It makes sense to impose such restrictions to avoid major posting errors by users. To quote an example, a shopfloor clerk should not be allowed to post transactions aggregating $ 100,00,00,000. Specifically, you can restrict amount limits for posting in one of the following ways:
1. Maximum amount for a document which an employee can post.
2. MAximum amount for a document line item which can be recorded in a
customer or vendor account.
3. Maximum acceptable payment difference.

Tolerance limits can also be set in SAP R3, which specify how system
will handle and post a difference. One thing to remember is that
tolerances are defined at the company code level. This means that you can have different tolerance limits specified for different company codes.
