Apart from its basic ERP solution, SAP R/3, SAP has come up with many new products for the mordern enterprise. These are commonly referred to as SAP new dimension products. One such product is SAP Knowledgement Management. The main business aim of SAP knowledge management is to transform individual knowledge into corporate knowledge. The SAP knowledgement management solution consists of four main components. I am discussing each of the components in brief below:
Knowledge Warehouse - Knowledge warehouse acts as a tool which takes care of creation, acquisition, transfer, modification, maintenance and publishing of information. SAP knowledge Warehouse is thus a knowledge portal where content is stored in the form of information objects.
Performance Assessment WorkBench PAW - Performance Assessment WorkBench acts as a tool to assess the efficiency of the training which users have received in MySAP Knowledge management solution. To take a simple example, one can create assessment for users, one before the training and one after te MySAP knowledge Management training.
iTutor - iTutor is a tool to create interactive learning units of any application which is run under windows environment. iTutor consists of the recorder, editor and viewer. It can be used to quickly create interactive training session which can be rolled out in the entire organization.
Functions within MySAP HR - The last component of SAP Knowledge management is the functionality of Personnel Development in MySAP HR. This component takes care of managing job profiles of employees as well as competencies of employees in training events.
