Change documents in SAP provide details of changes made to master record, tables, and documents. Let us take the example of of SAP MM Materials Management. Any changes made to the material master record are automatically stored by SAP in the change documents. Changes made at different times to a material master record will result in different change documents. This means every time a change is made, SAP R/3 would
generate a seperate document for the change.
If we take any particular material and look up the change documents for that material, we would be able to know the change history for that document. Change documents in SAP R/3 record the following information.
1. When the change was made.
2. Who made the change.
3. What was the field value before and after the change.
To view changes to material master documents, the following menu path can be used.
Material Master Menu >> Material >> Display Changes >> Active Changes / Scheduled Changes.
After selecting this screen enter the material number and press execute. SAP will display all changes made to the material till date. If many changes have been made, you can click on each document to see what
changes were made.
