SAP R3 Profile Generator PG - Using SAP Profile Generator to Define Authorization Profiles

SAP Profile Generator is a tool available to automatically generate and assign authorization profiles. SAP profile generator reduces the time for R/3 authorization implementation. The profile generator automatically selects authorization objects which are relevant. An administrator only needs to configure the customer specific settings.

Now, how does an role design administrator go about implementing authorizations. With SAP Profile generator, authorization profiles are defined based on the function users need to perform in SAP R/3. Earlier, an administrator needed to define authorizations for user groups by assigning authorization object to each group. Profile Generator in SAP selects the required authorization objects to perform a function and groups them in a new authorization role.

The profile generator not only enables a reliable authorization implementation but also enables the adminstrator to properly map the user role into SAP R/3. Profile Generator was released with the 3.1G version of SAP and has really changed the way authorizations were implemented in SAP.
