A popular question in SAP interviews is on the structure of Vendor Master Records.
Q). How are vendor master records structured in SAP MM Materials Management?
Answer:
Vendor master in SAP MM contains all data relating to vendors. Master data relating to vendors consists mainly of General Data, Company Code Data and Purchasing Data. Each of these three areas contain the following information:
General Data - General data is data which applies to each company code in SAP. General Data normally would consist of vendor name, vendor address, vendor telephone number, vendor history, etc.
Company Code Data - In the Vendor Master, company code data is kept at the company code level. Thus data such as payments, materials supplied, account numbers, witholding tax rates etc are defined at the company code level.
Purchasing Data - As the name suggests, purchasing data for vendor master records is maintained at the purchsing organziation level in SAP MM. Such data includes terms of delivery, date of delivery, location of delivery etc.
