Information Technology Glossary - Cyclic Redundancy Check

A Cyclic Redundancy Check is change detection check which can be used to find changes made to file or a message. This is preferred over a normal checksum since can can even detect subtle changes which checksum might not detect. Cyclic Redundancy check is used largely in data communications. It helps in ensuring that integrity is maintained during data and file transfers.
