Wireless Banking
Wireless banking is another step taken by the tech-savvy banks to provide their customers with a unique banking experience. With wireless banking in place, customers access a bank(s) or a financial institutions(s) network using mobile phones, pagers, PDA's and other such devices. This is possible through the wireless netwroks provided by most telecommunication cmpanies. In a recent survey in the United States it was found that more and more customers are prefering the use of wireless banking. It is great for people who are constantly on the move and need to transact business with their banks. A customer can simple access his account through his handheld devices and transact business.
But before you take the plunge beware of some of the risks that come free with wireless banking. Wireless devices like mobiles, PDA's have certain limitations. To list a few, they have limited battery life, smaller screen sizes, limited processing speeds, limited storage space, different data entry formats and so on. As a result of these limitations, it becomes difficult to deliver content to such woreless devices through HTML i.e. Hyper text markup language. However, thanks to Wireless Markup Language WML, a common language standard for wireless devices it is now possible to deliver content to wireless devices. Further, Wireless Access Protocaol (WAP) has been developed as a standard data transmission standard to deliver such WML content.
Today's 3G third generation networks have also helped the cause of wireless banking by providing increased data transfer speeds. Telecommunication device giants like Nokia, Motorola, Sony Erricson, Samsung, LG, have promised wireless devices with bigger screens, voice recognition applications, location identifiaction technology and increased battery life. Also, the subscription rates for such wireless banking services are all set to decrease over the next few years.
So the next time you want to pay your bills, transfer money from one account to another, you don't have to go to your bank, hell no! don't even log on to the net. Just take out your mobile phone and go wireless !!!
